The man page for incrontab 0.5.7-1 under Ubuntu 8.10 doesn't mention any
bug reporting system, which is why I sent you, the only listed contact
in the man page, an email message.
I finally found mention of the bug reporting system in the
/usr/share/doc/incron/README file. The man page doesn't mention the
/usr/share/doc/incron/ files either. Non-sysadmin people won't think
to look there.
1. Please add mention of the bug reporting system and the /usr/doc files
to the man page.
The home page for the bug tracking system (http://bts.aiken.cz/ [^]) has no
"Search" button. Even if I had found the bug tracking system: without
a search feature, it is unlikely that I would have had the time to look
through hundreds of bugs to find the previous bug report. If you want
fewer duplicate bugs, use a bug tracking system with an obvious search
feature. I finally found the search under "View issues".
2. Please make the search feature more visible.
When reporting bugs in the bug tracking system, repeated sequences
of blanks in comments are compressed down to single blanks, and text
matching HTML entities and commands are interpreted, not escaped,
which makes formatting awkward. I had to edit a bug report comment
a half-dozen times trying to get the formatting to look reasonable,
and the result ended up double-spaced.
3. Please fix the bug tracking system to preserve comment text exactly as
entered, including repeated blanks, and without interpreting HTML
commands or HTML entities.
Thanks for writing incron.
